It's the only reason she hasn't let Nikolai know that she knows about the marriage. Alina never told her not to talk about the bones. She was still perhaps less guarded about her own involvement than she normally would be, though. But this whole conversation had been an exercise in why Ianthe should not be talking to people when drunk and in her feels.]

She's not stupid, Nikolai. The moment she asks me if we've fucked and my response to her isn't an answer but some version of "let's go find him first", she's going to know. And she's going to react poorly. Not because we've fucked, but because she's going to assume we don't think she can handle it, like she's some kind of child.
